With the announcement that this year¹s British Country Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony is to incorporate the British Country Music Awards there has been a considerable amount of interest shown. Very often in the UK, with regard to Country music, we fall behind with awards because the artists and people do not get behind the concept and fail to encourage, support and make the effort to contribute. So here¹s your chance to put that right.
The initial news is that the nominations are flooding in and so are the albums from the artists. If you are an artist ask your audience to vote for you and if you are a fan then please visit bcmhof.co.uk and fill in the online voting form or just simply contact the office leaving your name and the person or persons you wish to nominate or vote for. It¹s up to you now.
We will need everyone's help in picking the best of the best. For the Music Section we will have a panel of professionals and others to help find worthy winners. Having spoken with various major representatives of the Country music scene in the UK, we find they all feel these Awards fit in with the Country calendar and will help raise the profile of our kind of music.
Your feedback will be appreciated and you can nominate your choice (click here).

One or two festival promoters have left a tainted blot on the Country music scene during the past few years which seems to be having an adverse effect on buying tickets in advance. Speaking to the festival organisers it is clear that many of you are unwilling to book and send in your deposits/payments until the last minute. One particular festival organiser was telling me of their concerns and yet I was able to suggest to them that people I have spoken to have every intention of going but hadn¹t booked yet. I can totally understand this, not wanting to be burned twice as it were but at some point the organisers have to decide whether their particular event is to carry on. I am hoping that they hold on in there and not lose their nerve until people regain their confidence. May I suggest you tell the promoters you have every intention of going along and will pay nearer the time or on the day. That way at least they will be encouraged by the interest shown. We all think I will do it later and later seems to get later and later!
I was quite surprised recently by the figures which showed how many single tracks of music are being downloaded legally via the internet. Whilst I realise this is a cost effective way for some of you to acquire your music, I can¹t help thinking what fabulous albums you may be missing out on in the process. I know a lot of the line dance teachers only need the one track to teach a particular dance and so prefer to use this method but believe me, you are missing out on some wonderful songs. I can remember when you could only buy singles (vinyl) that is and what a boring time that was. They do say what goes around comes around but in this case I hope not.
Keep listening, keep dancing, keep it Country.
